Darren Sammy won his third straight toss and decided to bowl first in Mirpur, keeping in mind the dew that will set in later on in the evening. West Indies made a couple of changes, leaving out the opening batsman Lendl Simmons and the allrounder Andre Russell. Kieran Powell replaced Simmons at the top, while the left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul got his first opportunity in one-dayers, after impressing in the Tests in his first series with West Indies.
Bangladesh had to make a forced change, after the fast bowler Abul Hasan had to pull out of the series due to a side strain. He was replaced by Rubel Hossain.
